The Pompeii Fun Run, 79 AD, is the ancient world's entry: a scenic route through a prosperous Roman resort town, excellent weather that morning, and a mountain on the horizon that participants had been assured was not that kind of mountain. Vesuvius had other plans, and the race became an evacuation measured in ash fall, darkness at noon, and a letter from Pliny the Younger that remains our finish line report. The vintage volcano graphic treats the whole catastrophe with the dark respect it deserves, as the worst timed athletic event in recorded history. This shirt is for runners with dark humour and a love of ancient history, the ones who collect race tees from events nobody should have finished.
